My new Asus MX279H had a bit of backlight bleeding when using the analogue VGA port. Once I switched to HDMI all gone! No bleeding at all!

This is a really good tip. I just think that HDMI is so much better in general. For my PS3 I switched to an HDMI and I think the picture is better, I can't say exactly how but more crisp and sharp. I'm not going back, especially as HDMI cables are so cheap.
