I have been watching a lot of Star Trek in recent months. Downloaded and watched The Original Series, The Next Generation, Enterprise and Voyager. Was never a fan of Deep Space Nine.
Most of the shows are fairly good, but to be honest some are dead boring crap. Especially in the Original series there are a lot of clunkers mainly due to budget limitations and limited effects and technology at the time.
But some shows are truly extraordinary- classics of modern SF storytelling.
Here are some things I learned from Star Trek as a whole-
1) 99% of aliens species look and talk like Americans.
2) Turn on the Holodeck and some hologram will try to take over the ship.
3) Prime
Directive is mostly forgotten 90% of the time.
4) Warp drive negates
Relativity.
5) Go into any Nebula and some alien will jump on board.
6) Trying to head home from the Delta Quadrant? Make every stop to explore
every gaseous anomaly instead of maximum warp straight line home.
7) Female Borg drones have some serious implants ;)
